Field notes and information

One of the three species of Euchloe recently given specific status from the Canaries. See Gran Canaria green striped white E. grancanariensis for more details.

Identification & Similar species: There are no similar species on Fuerteventura.

Distribution & Flight: Only found in higher regions of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote where desert conditions ease a little to allow sparse growth of meadows. Flies from January to April in two broods.

Habitat & Behaviour: Gullies and river beds. I only saw 3 individuals in Feb 2014, and only one of those settled just as cloudy weather arrived and light rain started.
