Field notes and information

From the south Balkans, it is a rather weakly marked species.

Identification & Similar species: Small underside hindwing markings help separate this species from others with which it may fly. Lacks the white stripe found in most other species of the area.

Distribution & Flight: Mountains of Greece and neighbouring countries.

Habitat & Behaviour: Hot dry grassy flowery places.

Variation: Butterflies sometimes sport a weak white streak on the underside hindwing.

Heavily marked basal area, hindwing spots and hindwing submarginal areas. I think it is closer to aroaniensis than the usually much more heavily marked admetus.
