This is a beautiful butterfly. It has very
delicate pale blue uppersides, looking almost white in flight. The
undersides are also pale and the black spots typical of many blues are
present but somewhat smaller than normal.
It usually flies in June and July but it has a prolonged emergence
that starts in May and finishes in August. The butterfly pictured above
was extremely fresh and found in the first week of August. I believe it
would have flown well passed the middle of August. We found 3 others too
in poorer condition but no females. |
