For an Erebia this flies at rather low
altitudes. It flies in central Europe as low as 300m but can be found at
more typical Erebia altitudes above 2000m. As such it is not
confined to the mountain ranges as most Erebias. It flies in
central France from the end of May at about 500m altitude and in Greece
at the same time at 700m. It is very variable and closely resembles the
Bright Eyed Ringlet, E. oeme. They are distinguished by the all black
antennae of oeme, and the brown antennal tip of medusa.
