Field notes and information

ARIZONA April 2015: There are two inseparable species in this group. The Common (this page) and the White Checkered Skipper, Pyrgus albescens. Their ranges overlapped throughout our trip. I've not tried to split them here. They were frequently encountered from the high desert to the sky islands.

Also very similar to the Tropical and Desert checkered skippers. Separated by the line of spots on the forewing margin that doesn't reach the apex.
