Field notes and information

This species is extremely local and, contrary to reports, it is not common in my experience. It is confined to just a small part of northwest Greece.

Identification & Similar species: The orange tints and an underside lacking strong markings help separate this species from possible similar species.

Distribution & Flight: Only from a few mountains in northwest Greece. I've found it on Smolikas and Grammos. Single brooded flying in high summer in July and August.

Habitat & Behaviour: Stony grassy places. Rests on rocks and stones.
