Field notes and information

A high arctic specialist species, found only in N Scandinavia.

Identification & Similar species: Closely resembles the other Clossiana species with which it flies. The underside hindwing is however distinctive, particularly the hour-glass break in the white band in space 2 of the discal band.

Distribution & Flight: Only found in N Scandinavia on open tundra. Flight time is around the end of June/ early July but is seasonally variable.

Habitat & Behaviour: It flies low over the ground and vegetation, stopping at flowers for nectar.
