Leptidea morsei
Distribution: Very local in E Europe from Slovenia and E Austria, S
Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and other countries of the former Yugoslav republic.
Possibly from Bulgaria but no certain records upto 2006.
Identification: Very difficult in the summer generations to separate
from the Wood White, L. sinapis. However, it is said that the upperside
is of a paper white. It is generally the larger of the two species. In spring
there is a more or less distinct hook to the apex of the forewing.
Flight time: Mid April/ May and again in June/ July.
Habitat: Damp meadows in forests and forest edges. Larvae feed on the

Behaviour: I've only ever seen this one individual which was warming
in a rare sunny spell during a cold wet week in Romania. So I've nothing really
to comment on!
