This species has a reputation for being local but common. We found this in a
small region northern Greece, the only place in Europe where it is found. As
with most Graylings they don't open their wings and often angle their closed
wings directly into the sun. This behaviour minimises the heat intake from the
sun and casts a smaller shadow that might otherwise give them away to potential
predators.
As can be seen they were very fond of resting on rocks, usually some way from
any vegetation on rubble or scree slopes.
