A smart butterfly with its European distribution limited to mainland Greece and FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). The butterflies above were filmed in southern Greece where they were very fresh plus the last photograph from the Greek Island of Samos. It flies very rapidly in open country where it rests on rocks and is very hard to approach. Feeding butterflies on the other hand did let their guard down.
