Samos, June 2002

In political Europe this species in known only from the two mountains on the Greek island of Samos. In reality, this island is less than 2km from the Turkish mainland. It flies in June on amongst the windswept, exposed mountain tops. We failed to find it on one of the mountains, Mt. Karvounis, so we had to undertake the grueling walk up Mt. Kerketefs (about 700m climb) in the soaring temperatures - start very very early in the morning is my only advice. This is a very remote mountain and I wouldn't like to attempt it alone in case of accident.
