Levantine Skipper
Thymelicus hyrax

Distribution: Very limited in Europe - only on a few of the larger Greek Islands and two small regions of the Greek mainland: Parnassos and Askion Mts.

Identification: Resembles the other "Golden" Skippers. It has only a very restricted range. See Identification Page for Golden Skippers for more information on how to separate this species.

Flight time: Seems to be single brooded - May to July.

Habitat: Hot dry grassy places in hills. Larvae presumably take grasses as do the rest of its close relatives in Europe.

Behaviour: We found it in hot dry grassy gullies - strongly attracted to flowers.
