This is a high alpine species only found in a restricted range in the
Pyrenees. It gets its English name from the wonderful Cirque de Gavarnie. These
photographs were taken in a nearby valley at altitudes between 2000 and 2500m.
The males and some females were rather worn indicating we'd missed the best of
this species for the year.
