Montes Universales, Spain, August 2003

This is a member of the Anomalous Blues, a group in which the males are all brown rather than the more typical blue of this family. It is closely similar to A. agenjoi. That species has a much shorter faint line on the hind wing. There is a discussion of the differences on the species page for of agenjoi.

It is common throughout the Montes Universales and often abundant. We were probably a week late or the peak emergence in early August but there were still plenty of good individuals about.
