This is one of the six Brassy Ringlets. It is the
most widespread species flying in various mountains from the Balkans,
eastern and western Alps, central Italy, Pyrenees and the Cantabrians.
Distribution is probably the best method of separating these species but
there are diagnostic wing characteristics too. This species most closely
resembles the Swiss Brassy Ringlet, E. tyndarus. It differs from
this species with much more pronounced upperside hindwing orange
markings usually containing white pupilled black spots. The underside is
usually less scalloped too. |
