This species is confined to the Alps and a couple of mountains in the Balkans. It is similar to the Alpine Grizzled Skipper, P. andromedae, but is distinguished by having 2 not 3 basal spots on the upperside forewing. Usually the upperside white spots are smaller than this and the hindwing generally even less well marked. This makes me wonder if the butterfly in the second two photos is something else but the bottom photo shows what looks like the typical exclamation mark found in cacaliae and andromedae. Anyone any suggestions?
