This is a large and distinctive blue. The male has
lovely pale blue uppersides that gleam in sunlight and wide forewing
borders. The undersides are a pale dove grey.
It flies across central and southern Europe. I only ever find it in
the mountains where it is lives in discrete colonies and may be fairly
common. The males like taking salt and both sexes are often found
feeding at alpine flowers. |
