This one looks bluer than normal - off white is more normal.

A typical group at a damp patch. The smaller butterfly middle right is the related Lysandra bellargus

A widespread species in Spain, August 2003 was my first encounter. They were abundant where they were found. They were particularly attracted to the very rare damp patches around seepages from rocks. They love the abundant white Scabious as a source of nectar and to a lesser extent the lavender which is less common.

They are actually very white and closely resemble P. rapae etc. in flight. The upperside photos above were very hard to come by and were captured in early morning. The second image looks rather blue, much more so than in the field. This might be the angle of the photograph or an aberration in the video camera. The first one even looks rather too blue but is much closer to reality. One thing they are not is the L. coridon. In this region of Spain L. coridon is of the very bright blue form caelestissima which in no way can be confused with these pictures above.
